The Most Glamorous Dresses in Movies

The emerald green dress worn by actress Keira Knightley in Atonement has been voted the best film costume of all time. The bias-cut, blackless silk gown had fashion editors raving when it first appeared on screen.

It was voted top in a survey by Sky Movies and In Style magazine.

Marilyn Monroe's white dress from The Seven Year Itch, worn as she stood over a subway grate, was second.

The little black Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's was third.

Olivia Newtown-John sported the first non-dress to appear at the list - her skin-tight black pants from the final scene of Grease came in at number four.

Coming in at number five was Kate Winslet's ensemble from Titanic.

One Night with Marilyn Monroe

"Real beauty and femininity are ageless and can't be contrived. Glamour can be manufactured." -- Marilyn Monroe.

Douglas Kirkland, One Night with Marilyn, 17.11.1961

Assigned by Look Magazine to photograph Marilyn Monroe for its 25th anniversary issue in November '61, Douglas Kirkland was already well known for shooting the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Marlene Dietrich.

Marilyn Monroe arrived with the usual entourage of assistants to pose for the photographs, however, she soon requested that she and the young photographer were left to continue the shoot alone.

'I can only say this: it was extremely intimate'' comments Kirkland. 'It was just myself, the camera and Marilyn.... Frank Sinatra filled the room with his seductive beautiful ballads. That was the atmosphere of the evening: quiet, soft and enticing...

'I had three encounters with Marilyn Monroe,' Kirkland said. 'The first took place at her apartment, which was small and unimpressive, not the type of place you'd expect to see a super star live in. She was disarming, she laughed easily, and I felt like I was talking with a sister. When she arrived at the studio for the photo session though, I felt I'd been hit by a lightning bolt. She didn't walk-she floated in slow motion'.

When Kirkland met Marilyn for the third and last time to review the photos, she was dark and depressed and at first unimpressed with the images, until finally she fell in love with them.

This was Marilyn Monroe only weeks before she died: “I feel if I fulfill myself as a person, I’ll find myself as an actress. The thing is, it seems like I have a superstructure with no foundation. But I’m working on the foundation!

Coco Chanel-"A woman should be two things: classy and fabulous."

"A girl should be two things: who and what she wants."

Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel`s stylish, elegant designs revolutionized fashion during the 1910s, freeing women from the uncomfortable and stiff apparel worn at the end of the 19th century.
"Dress sharply and they`ll remember the outfit; dress impeccably and they`ll remember the woman."

A bag with golden handles, an elegant pearl necklace, a tailored dress in black are the symbols of elegance and status that marked forever the history of fashion.
"There is time for work. And time for love. That leaves no other time!"

"This perfume is not just beautiful and fragrant. It contains my blood and sweat and a million broken dreams."

"I love luxury. And luxury lies not in richness and ornateness but in the absence of vulgarity. Vulgarity is the ugliest word in our language. I stay in the game to fight it."

"I don`t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that`s the day she has a date with destiny. And it`s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."

5 Fashion Trends for Winter 2008-2009

Weather changes must not influence the way we look in all seasons. Here are my top 5 fashion trends for this winter:

Suede jackboots Fendi

Handbag Bottega Veneta
You can find a lot of various styles – strict, business-like, pretty feminine or chic. But for Winter 2008-2009 I like this one.

Grey dress best-seller RM by Roland Mourent
Tartan and check are some of the trends of winter 2009-2009. That's the reason you will find plaid patterns on anything: skirts, jackets, dresses or blouses. The trend for 2009’s is color palette of muted greys, blues, greens and browns.

Blouse with a bow Burberry

Long waistcoat J Mendel
This type of fur collars is seen in many collections this winter.

BONUS:

Tunic dress Аnna Sui
This tunic has has its roots in traditional Russian folk elements. As you see, it combines classic rock and chic with luxury elements.

Eva Longoria Covers Glamour Magazine

Eva Longoria is cover girl for the February 2009  “Man Issue” of Glamour magazine. Eva looks amazing in these pictures! She's so cute in the Dolce & Gabbana shorts and bra set! I like this cover because it looks natural and not heavily photoshopped. I think people are getting that she isn’t pregnant right now and focusing on her again. Which is nice to see everyone doing finally…even though it is fun gossiping about people…

I the interview she she talked a lot about love and her relationship with new husband, basketball player Tony Parker. She said that, while she and Tony would love to be together forever, they take things one day at a time rather than looking far down the road.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

On whether she has a “type”: “I think sometimes women are stuck in a type. I’ve never dated the same type. I fall in love with personalities, and they come in different packages.”

On her and Tony’s marriage: “Tony and I would love to be together forever. But the only way you get to forever is one day at a time.”

On their relationship roles: “I’m the gardener. I definitely nurture. [My husband] is the flower. But there are times when Tony takes care of me — in an emotional sense, like, OK, let me take the reins on this one. But I love to take care of him. I’m really a very fifties housewife.”

On stories about her weight: “Unfortunately, we live our life in public, so any weight gain or pimple is a national story. I don’t get this obsession with weight. It’s not only Hollywood; it’s our society.”

On pregnancy reports: “I’ve been pregnant since last spring with triplets. [Laughs.] No, if I were pregnant [when the tabloids said I was], I’d have had the child many times over.
